From Farm Fields to Montana Highways
Tim Baldwin didn’t plan to start a transportation company — or a podcast. Raised on a dairy farm in upstate New York, he grew up surrounded by early mornings, hard work, and deep lessons in reliability and responsibility. When life shifted and farming wasn’t the future anymore, he packed up and headed west, eventually landing in Bozeman, Montana.
It was there — while driving for Uber on the weekends — that an idea began to take shape. The need was simple: reliable, comfortable rides through Montana’s unpredictable roads. The vision that followed became Mountain Mule Transportation, a private luxury transport service built around safety, hospitality, and connection.
The Heart Behind the Business
What started with one pickup truck grew into a fleet of SUVs and vans serving Bozeman, Big Sky, Yellowstone, and beyond. But as the company grew, so did the realization that it wasn’t just about moving people from one place to another — it was about connecting them to Montana.
For Tim, that connection comes from the same values he learned on the farm: reliability, respect for the land, and care for others. “We’re someone you can count on,” he says. “That’s the heart of Mountain Mule — we take care of people.”
How the Podcast Began
The Mountain Mule Media podcast started as a side project with Tim’s longtime friend, Kyle — a way to improve their communication skills and share conversations with people they admired. Over time, it became something much larger: a platform to highlight Montana’s small businesses, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.
The show now features local founders, farmers, artists, and nonprofit leaders, offering listeners a window into the stories that make this state what it is. “Every person who sits down here has something worth sharing,” Tim says. “It’s an honor to help tell their stories.”
More Than a Business
As Mountain Mule Transportation continues to grow, so does its mission. The company has become a bridge between Montana’s travelers and its local businesses — using the podcast and media platform to showcase the people who make Montana thrive.
“What started as a transportation company has become something much bigger,” Tim explains. “We’re helping people connect — to each other, to Montana, and to the experiences that make this place so special.”
