Frequently Asked Questions

Can the tour be customized?

Absolutely. That's the entire point of a private tour. The day is yours.Want to focus on wildlife over geysers? We'll spend more time in Lamar Valley and less at thermal features. Interested in photography and need time to set up shots? Your guide will give you the time and position you in the right spots. Traveling with kids who need frequent stops and shorter walks? We'll adjust the pace. Want to trade some driving for a longer hike to a waterfall or viewpoint? Just say so. Your guide tailors the route, the stops, and the pacing to what actually interests you, whether that's wildlife viewing, geothermal features, photography, scenic overlooks, hiking, or all of the above. Tell us what matters and we'll build the day around it.

What's included? What should I bring?

We handle the logistics. You just need to dress for the weather. Included in every tour:

  • Private guide and comfortable vehicle (SUV or van depending on group size)
  • Pickup and drop-off at your accommodation in Bozeman, Big Sky, Livingston, Gardiner, or West Yellowstone (outside those areas, we can often arrange pickup for an additional fee)
  • Fresh meal from Aurore Bakery in Bozeman - lunch or dinner depending on the tour, served at a scenic spot in the park
  • Binoculars and spotting scopes for wildlife viewing
  • Yellowstone National Park standard entrance fees. International travelers are subject to an additional $100 per person admission fee per new federal policy. This is the responsibility of the guest.
  • Water and snacks throughout the day

What you should bring:

  • Warm layer (fleece or jacket - even summer mornings start cold at elevation)
  • Rain jacket (afternoon thunderstorms are common in Yellowstone)
  • Hat and sunglasses (high elevation sun is strong)
  • Sunscreen
  • Camera or phone for photos
  • Small daypack or backpack for carrying your layers and personal items
  • Any essential medications

Forgot something? We keep necessities in the vehicle and will do our best to get you what you need. Dietary restrictions or food allergies? Let us know when you book and we'll make sure your meal works for you. Book your private tour now.

What's the weather like in Yellowstone?

Unpredictable. Plan for anything.

Yellowstone sits at high elevation, up to 7,000 to 8,000+ feet depending on where you are in the park. Even in summer, temperatures can range from the low 40s at dawn to the high 80s by afternoon. It can be snowing at higher elevations in July. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, especially in summer.

We operate rain or shine. Weather doesn't stop our tour and it can even make it better. Animals are more active when it's cooler, and storms create dramatic light for photos.

Come prepared for temperatures between 40-80°F in a single day. Layers are essential. You'll be outside the vehicle for varying lengths of time - watching wildlife, walking boardwalks around geysers and hot springs, standing at canyon overlooks, hiking short trails. Dress in layers you can add or remove, and bring sun, wind, and rain protection.

If weather or road conditions make touring genuinely unsafe (rare, but it happens), we'll adjust the route to safer areas of the park or, in extreme cases, reschedule your experience.

How far in advance should I book?

As early as possible, especially for summer. Private Yellowstone tours fill up weeks to months in advance during peak season (June-September). If you're visiting in summer and have specific dates in mind, book 2-3 months ahead to guarantee availability. Shoulder seasons (May, October) and winter have more flexibility, but booking early still ensures you get your preferred date and time.
Last-minute requests? We'll do our best to accommodate if we have availability, but we can't guarantee it, especially in summer when guides and vehicles are often fully booked. Book your private tour now.

Where do you pick up?

Your door. Wherever you're staying. We pick up and drop off directly at your accommodation, whether that's a hotel, vacation rental, private home, wherever you're based. No need to meet us somewhere or navigate to an office.

Our standard pickup areas include (no additional fee):
  • Bozeman
  • Big Sky
  • Livingston
  • Gardiner
  • West Yellowstone

Outside those areas? We can often arrange pickup for an additional fee depending on distance. Just ask when you book. Book your private tour now.
