What It Takes to Build Real Experiences in Big Sky

Big Sky looks simple on the surface, but anyone who has tried to plan a corporate event here knows it is not. In Episode 74, I sit down with Bryant Sterczala from RMC, a Destination Management Company that helps groups handle everything between touchdown and takeoff, transportation, activities, vendor coordination, and full-scale event logistics across Big Sky and Bozeman.

What RMC Does, and Why It Matters in Big Sky

RMC is a Destination Management Company, which means they support hotels and groups by handling the pieces the hotel cannot. Hotels can cover the rooms, the food, and the venue spaces, but when a group needs transportation, offsite experiences, entertainment, rentals, and full coordination, that’s where a DMC steps in.

For Big Sky specifically, this matters because the resources are limited. You might have options, but the vendor pool is shallow. There may be only one or two solid providers for tents, furniture, or specialized entertainment, which means competition is high and timelines matter.

Bryant Sterczala, Beyond the Title

While Bryant serves as Director of Operations and Events for RMC in Big Sky, his path into event work did not start with logistics or corporate programs. It grew out of years spent in the arts, community spaces, and creative leadership roles in Bozeman. Before stepping into large-scale destination management, Bryant helped run a dance studio, supported local artists, and played a role in launching a film festival in town.

That background shapes how he approaches events today. For Bryant, events are not just schedules and checklists. They are shared experiences that rely on presence, timing, and a sense of place. His work consistently reflects that belief, whether he is coordinating a corporate group or thinking about how people move, gather, and connect in physical space.

Movement, Presence, and Healing

Bryant also shares a deeply personal part of his story during this conversation, his experience being diagnosed with cancer and going through chemotherapy. During treatment, dance and movement became more than creative outlets. They became tools for grounding, processing emotion, and staying connected to his body during an incredibly difficult season.

He talks openly about using movement as a way to remain present, even while navigating uncertainty and fear. That perspective carries through his work today. Whether he is talking about a dance floor, an event timeline, or a moment of stillness, Bryant consistently returns to the idea that presence matters, and that meaningful experiences do not happen by accident.

Bringing Intention Into Experience

Throughout the episode, Bryant reflects on grief, resilience, and honoring different seasons of life, including seasons of rest. These ideas mirror how he thinks about events themselves. Nothing meaningful happens without intention. Time, space, and energy all need to be respected.

This conversation moves beyond event planning and into something broader. It is about how we show up for our work, our communities, and ourselves. Bryant’s story adds depth to the conversation around Big Sky, reminding listeners that behind every well-run experience is a human being with lived experience, care, and perspective guiding it.
