Introducing Feral Feast

Feral Feast is a brand-new event launching August 22 2026 at North Bridger Bison in Wilsaw MT.

The vision is simple but ambitious: create a gathering place where people can learn about hunting, foraging, conservation, food preparation, and the deeper relationship between people and the natural world.

The event will feature chefs, educational speakers, hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and opportunities to experience a wide variety of wild foods throughout the day.

More Than Just a Meal

While food is a major part of the experience, Beth explains that Feral Feast isn’t designed as a traditional food festival.

Instead, it’s built around education and connection.

Attendees will have opportunities to learn about foraging, wild food preparation, butchering, ethical harvesting, conservation, and food systems from experts across Montana and beyond. Workshops, demonstrations, and storytelling are intended to help people understand not just what they’re eating, but where it comes from and the role it plays in a broader ecosystem.

Reconnecting With Food

One theme appears throughout the conversation again and again:

Many people have become disconnected from their food.

Food arrives in plastic packaging.

Meat appears in grocery stores without much thought about how it got there.

Wild food offers a different perspective.

Whether through hunting, foraging, gardening, or simply learning more about local food systems, Beth believes people benefit from understanding the journey food takes before it reaches their table.

Ethical Harvesting and Conservation

The discussion also explores ethical hunting and harvesting practices.

Beth shares her own journey from vegetarianism to hunting and explains how participating in the full process of sourcing food changed her perspective.

For her, hunting isn’t simply recreation.

It’s a way to become more connected to food, conservation, responsibility, and the natural systems that sustain us.

That same philosophy extends to many of the event’s speakers and partners, including North Bridger Bison owner Matt Scogin, who will discuss his approach to field harvesting bison and producing food in a way that remains closely connected to nature.

Why In-Person Experiences Matter

Another fascinating part of the conversation focuses on the future of events and human connection.

As technology, AI, and digital content continue to expand, Beth believes authentic in-person experiences become even more valuable.

People want more than information.

They want shared experiences.

They want meaningful conversations.

They want opportunities to gather around food, stories, and common interests.

Feral Feast is designed to create exactly those kinds of moments.

Building Something New

Launching a brand-new event always comes with uncertainty.

Beth openly discusses the challenges of creating something from scratch, finding the right partners, and growing intentionally rather than scaling too quickly.

The long-term vision may evolve, but the first goal is simple:

Create an exceptional experience that brings people together around food, nature, learning, and community.

Final Thoughts

At its core, Feral Feast is an invitation.

An invitation to slow down.

To learn.

To gather.

To better understand where our food comes from and the natural systems that make it possible.

Whether you’re a hunter, forager, chef, conservationist, foodie, or simply someone curious about food and the outdoors, this conversation offers a thoughtful look at a growing movement centered on connection—to food, to nature, and to each other.
