Redefining Adventure in Montana
For many Montanans, adventure is a way of life — but for Drew Asaro, adventure became a lifeline. After a skiing accident in 2018 left him paralyzed, Drew discovered Eagle Mount, a Bozeman-based nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities experience freedom, joy, and connection through adaptive sports.
Eagle Mount’s mission is simple but powerful: Everyone has challenges, but we have adventures. From skiing and mountain biking to equine therapy and aquatics, the organization creates opportunities for people to rediscover what’s possible, no matter their circumstances.
The Power of Community
Drew started his Eagle Mount journey as a participant, quickly realizing that the sense of belonging he found there was just as impactful as the activities themselves. Within a year, he transitioned from student to volunteer, and now he leads Eagle Mount’s adaptive cycling and snow sports programs.
“If I didn’t get injured, I wouldn’t have this fun, cool job where I get to ski, bike, and help facilitate smiles for other people just like me.”
The nonprofit’s impact extends beyond recreation — it strengthens families, fosters friendships, and builds resilience through shared experiences.
Supporting the Mission
Eagle Mount operates entirely through community support — from donors and local partners to the hundreds of volunteers who make programs possible. Businesses like Bridger Bowl, Big Sky Resort, Round House Sports, and GVLT all play a role in sustaining Eagle Mount’s programs.
Save the Date: Eagle Mount’s Crystal Ball Gala returns November 8, 2025 — celebrating over 40 years of adaptive adventure and inclusion. Visit eaglemount.org to learn how to attend, volunteer, or donate.
A Legacy of Freedom and Joy
Founded in 1982 by Robert and Greta Mathis, Eagle Mount began as a grassroots effort out of the back of a Subaru. Today, it serves participants from Bozeman to Big Sky, providing life-changing experiences that restore independence and confidence.
Drew’s story is one of countless examples of how adventure — and community — can transform lives.
