Tim sits down with Aubrey Peterson, founder of The Lab 406 in Bozeman. What started as a vision for indoor batting cages has grown into Montana’s hub for baseball and softball training, parties, and community events. From youth clinics and private lessons to corporate retreats and black-light batting cage nights, Aubrey has created a space where the game can thrive year-round.
Building the Lab
Aubrey shares how her background as a Division I athlete and international softball player led her to recognize a missing piece in Montana’s sports community. When she arrived in Bozeman, she quickly learned there was no dedicated indoor batting facility. “Somebody had to do it,” she says. So, she opened The Lab 406 in January 2025, and the response from the community has been overwhelming.
Coaching and Community
Coaching remains at the heart of everything Aubrey does. She’s coached youth as young as six and mentored players up to college level. With a degree in psychology and human development, she blends mental training with physical skill-building. Her belief: “Baseball and softball are as much mental as they are physical.”
Events and Growth
The Lab 406 is more than cages. From birthday parties and black-light batting nights to the upcoming Two-Out Rally Bash on September 26, it has become a gathering place for players, families, and local businesses. Aubrey’s goal is to grow Montana’s baseball and softball presence and give kids a place to develop their skills while having fun.
